josh brent - restless nights

deep, percussive house grooves from 1996, taken from SCHATRAX #6, a series of  brent’s own classic deep house releases from britain that started in 1994.

re-released in 2008 on the recent SCHATRAX VINTAGE VINYL series.

ps. you can enter http://www.schatrax.com to get an account, pay your £7.99 flat fee, one-time-only, and get access to all of their mp3 releases at no cost, or grab a vinyl out of their archives for £3.00. sounds like a good deal to me…or maybe it’s just one more desperate attempt to handle distribution matters in times of business crisis…

sevensol & bender - evol peed (sven’s dust devil remix)

can’t resist posting this anymore. great remix by sven weisemann on KANN records from leipzig. i already posted the other track by daniel stefanik some weeks ago…

marko fuerstenberg - valentino

deep, dubby masterpiece, taken from his new “blofeld” record on ORNAMENTS. more danceable than his “usual”, yet brilliant dubtechno tracks. marko fuerstenberg had been releasing on netlabels like THINNER for some time before his breakthrough on labels like A.R.T.LESS, ROTARY COCKTAIL or ECHOCORD COLOUR (check out his great split release with luke hess on the latter).

[insert some random bla bla bla]

k-alexi - essence of a dream

first and best track ever by k-alexi, often rated as one of the early quintessential tracks of the whole genre of chicago house. released somewhere in chicago in 1987, when mr k. alexi shelby was a member of early super house group RISQUE III..

a music they named tecsoul. today, i’d say i’m totally gay for this berghain porn shit.

agnès - dub slice

i have just found out he is pronounced “an-yes”. remember that and get some extra points by some nerd assholes on the next drugged-out afterhour debate about the status quo of contemporary dance music.

herb lf - sunliner

one of my favourite tracks of 2008. warm synths, a deep bassline and i’m happy.

appeared on FARSIDE RECORDS, a small label from dortmund since 2000.

deep into westgermany again.

pawas & blm - online

it’s friday night! yay!

pawas is one of those west-german producers i really admire. it’s strange to realize that my newly beloved music now often comes from cologne, dortmund or weird places like wiesbaden…

arto mwambé - noh ngamebo

arto mwambé has been one of those super sought-after secret aliases for some time, before it was revealed that “he” was a character made up by phillip lauer and christian beisswinger, the men behind BRONTOSAURUS RECORDS from frankfurt.

to me, noh ngamebo, taken from their 2007 “mudhutma!” record, still is their best track so far. disco house for the 21st century club. or, as they call it: idol-pop.

anton zap - deeper

this guy is from moscow and has some grooving classic downtempo releases on labels like QUINTESSENTIALS and UNDERGROUND QUALITY (them again!). what more to say? look out for his forthcoming EPs on UZURI and QUINTESSENTIALS, go to a store or order them.
